Of course, depending on the type of material, their purpose will be different, nevertheless, aluminum alloys have a significant share in the creation of various types of structures and details. One of the ways to obtain the desired shape of the product is its CNC machining by milling.

Machining aluminum alloys requires the use of appropriate cutting conditions and tools, because the material exhibits great flexibility. Depending on the alloying additions, the machinability of the material will be different, which should be taken into account when creating machining technology. Aluminum milling takes place at relatively high speeds and feeds. Of course, the selection of these parameters is influenced by a number of factors not only the type of alloy and tool, but also the power of the machine, the method of fixing the workpiece and tool.

When machining soft alloys, one should pay attention to the phenomenon of build-up on the tool’s edge. This phenomenon has a negative effect on tool life and surface quality. It is often caused by low cutting conditions. When choosing them should be guided by data from tool catalogs, and the knowledge of an experienced technologist or operator will be invaluable.
